Public Consultation on Draft Interim Standards for New Directions, Services and Supports for People with Disabilities

Based on the recommendations from the New Directions Report 2012, the HSE in collaboration with the NDA, have launched draft interim standards that they plan to introduce for all day services/supports for people with disabilities.

New Directions sets out twelve supports that should be available to people using 'day services'. It proposes that 'day services' should take the form of individualised outcome-focussed supports to allow adults using those services to live a life of their choosing in accordance with their own wishes, needs and aspirations.

They are currently seeking submissions from all interested parties on these draft standards. St John of God Kildare Services are currently linking with staff, service users and families via existing forums, to compile and submit feedback.
