HIQA Inspection Reports

Following the recent coverage by local and national media we wish to reassure families that St John of God Community Services Ltd (Kildare) is not closing. We very much regret the upset that these reports have caused residents, family members and staff. The story in the news relates to HIQA inspections that were carried out in 2015 – the reports of which were published on 10 February 2016.  As a lot of families will be aware, last year HIQA made recommendations for a number of our residential services that were not in compliance with regulation.

Plans have been in place since last year to address all of the issues outlined in the reports and part of this is the relocation of some residents to new homes. The families of those involved have been consulted and are involved in this process. We are very pleased to say that a number of people have already moved and seem to be extremely happy in their new homes.  A lot of other positive improvements have taken place across the residential services and a HIQA inspector acknowledged the organisation's commitment to improve the standards of services for residents.

The service remains committed to implementing the actions outlined in our improvement plans and is focused on continuing to improve the service we offer to support more residents to move to their own homes in the local community. We look forward to working with all of the families in achieving this goal.

If you have any concerns please contact reception on 01-6288161 and ask to speak to the relevant Programme Manager.
