Parents and Friends Association 50th Anniversary

Sensory Garden

To mark their Golden Jubilee the Parents and Friends Association commissioned the Serenity Garden, near the main entrance at St Raphael’s.  The garden, featuring a patio, water feature, seating area and planting, provides a haven for children and adults to relax and enjoy all that the garden has to offer.

On 9 September 2012 (50 years to the day), Brothers, staff, families and friends gathered at St Raphael’s Church in Celbridge to celebrate and thank the members of St Raphael’s Parents and Friends Association.

Bishop Eamonn Walsh led the celebration and recounted his personal memories of his family involvement with the Association in its early years.

President of the Association, Cathal O’Feinneadha, reminded everyone of the development of the Association, and its support to Kildare Services in responding to the needs of children and adults over the last 50 years.

Provincial Brother Laurence Kearns OH, and Director of Services Clare Dempsey, gave thanks for the extraordinary and unique voluntary contribution and support of each member of the Association over 50 years, and acknowledged the importance of the Association to the future development of Kildare Services.

After Mass and the official opening and blessing of the Serenity Garden, guests enjoyed lunch and a chat in the Maple Room.
